The colour palette throughout the film is elegant but has a playfulness that represents Marie Antoinette, these colours

alter as she changes throughout the film. They are brighter when she is indulging herself and

the rare black outfit she wears as she tempts the Duke suggests seduction. The white dresses she wears as her life moves to the country show her contentment whilst there but still give her a carefree image. The most imaginative hairstyles also worn at her most indulgent moments. The change in her costume style and especially colour show the change in her state of mind through
